Extended Producer Responsibility

Speciality Food Magazine

It was announced last month that Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws have been postponed for another year.

They are now due to come into effect in April 2024. EPR is a law whereby producers will be required to pay back all the environmental costs associated with a product throughout its lifecycle. This will shift the onus onto the producer to find the right packaging solutions and not expect the consumer to have to make the right choice… and we believe rightly so.

Greenypeeps were asked to comment on this for Speciality Food magazine alongside WRAP (Waste & Resource Action Programme) and the environmental group, A Plastic Planet.
